DAA UTM Builder: What’s New

By Jane Wu, Senior Web Analyst @ Nintendo

For the past couple years, we’ve been using DAA UTM spreadsheet to generate the UTM link. There are pros and cons while using this kind of method.

Pros:

  • Can save your past URLs and have a central location to refer to for your team
  • You can use the same spreadsheet for multiple campaigns
  • Fairly easy to use, but not as easy as the basic URL builder
  • Free

Cons:

  • Easy to break and overwrite formulas
  • Highly dependent on one or two people who know how to configure the spreadsheet
  • Difficult to manage as they grow larger and your requirements complex.

In this new version, we’ve able to simplify the process using the integration with Google Form. It not only provides the benefits of UTM spreadsheet, but also improves the capabilities of UTM spreadsheet. Here is quick demonstration on how to use the new UTM form.

Future Considerations:
There still areas of improvements. For example, to handle bulk building. DAA implementation Task Force is always looking for talents to help to improve. Interested in joining? Reach out to the Community Manager, Erin Lambertz, at elambertz@digitalanalyticsassociation.org.
